The American Institute of Certified Planners provides the only nationwide, independent verification of planners’ qualifications. Certified planners pledge to uphold high standards of practice, ethics, and professional conduct. As a nationally recognized certification, AICP members demonstrate to employers and colleagues that they have the academic qualifications, relevant work experience, and mastery of essential skills required to serve their community effectively.
From 2013 to 2018, AICP members were also able to apply for Advanced Specialty Certifications (ASC) in environmental planning (CEP), transportation planning (CTP), or urban design (CUD).
Once certified, professional planners may place the designation "AICP" after their name to indicate their membership in AICP, and their mastery of the principles, skills, knowledge, and experience determined by the organization as essential for a professional planner.
In this course of Certified planner a participant will learn to keep their skills sharp and up-to-date by continuously pursuing advanced professional education and learn about the core principles of planning, Also will have an understanding to maintain membership in the AICP, a certified planner must earn a specified number of continuing education credit hours that include courses in planning law and ethics every two years.

The course on Certified Planner is ideal for AICP Certification Requirements:
- To become AICP certified, you must possess at minimum two years of experience and a graduate degree in planning from an accredited program, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. For details, check out the APA’s website.
- The AICP certification exam is held twice a year — in November and May. Once you’ve passed the exam and confirmed your credentials, your initial AICP certification is valid for a period of two years.
