This course on “Contractor Skills” will teach the fundamentals of creating a contract, it’s main clauses and provisions.

Trainees will also learn the different alternative contracting strategies and its arrangements and methods of proper negotiation techniques and how to claim a negotiation.

Risk Management in Contract

  • Methodology of contract management
  • Methodology of guarantee and insurance in contract
  • Risk and performance management in contract
  • Suspension, warranties and termination of a contract

Day 3:

Change and Variation in a Contract

  • Changes in a contract
  • Understanding the transfer of rights agreements in a contract
  • Understanding the changes in the scope of work and variation clauses in a contract
  • Understanding “Novation”- adding a new contract in place of an old one, and its management and methodology
  • Methods for dispute management
  • Termination of a contract and how to control

Day 4:

Security of a Contract Agreement

  • Understanding of the standard form of a contract document
  • Understanding the international standard contract form of an agreement
  • Understanding of security in a contract agreement
  • How to manage payment risk in a contract?
  • Payment assurance through Bonds, guarantees and letters of assurance
  • Solutions for rapid risk management

Management of Conflict and “How to solve them”

  • Understanding on how to create contracts for avoiding conflicts
  • Steps for solving multi-level conflict
  • Steps for contract negotiation
  • Importance of Laws and contracts and Litigation and Arbitration in a contract
  • Process of conflict management
  • Review of the course and “Question and Answer session”
