UK is Among the Leading Fleet Electrification Markets Worldwide

According to a recent report that evaluates the global fleet electrification landscape, the UK is one of the top nations in terms of fleet electrification markets.
The Climate Group's EV100 Transition Barometer, published in collaboration with New AutoMotive, ranks 13 countries as leading fleet electrification markets, led by Norway, Ethiopia, China, and the United Kingdom.
This tier also includes Singapore, South Korea, and Uruguay. India, Thailand, Chile, and Colombia lead the second tier of emerging markets.
The Significance of the EV100 Initiative
Climate Group calls on companies worldwide to accelerate their electric vehicle (EV) adoption in light of the findings.
Along with the release of the EV100 Transition Barometer report, the EV100 initiative—a coalition of more than 120 globally recognised businesses—has been relaunched with the goal of electrifying their corporate fleets.
Notably, EV100 members have already placed over 700,000 EVs on the road, with many having electrified more than half of their fleets.
Moreover, EV100 is relaunching with a flexible commitment structure, allowing companies to focus on electrifying specific vehicle segments like cars, vans, and trucks, rather than a blanket 2030 deadline, ensuring diverse market conditions.
Climate Group's Head of Transport, Dominic Phinn, praised the relaunched EV100 for leading the global EV transition, stating that forward-thinking companies understand the competitive advantage of early adoption. He emphasised the importance of cleaner, healthier, and smarter road transport.
Besides, EV100 members are accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles, increasing sales and lowering prices, thus making them more affordable and accessible for all.
Climate Group commissioned New AutoMotive to assess 39 markets' readiness for fleet electrification, using key metrics such as supply-side regulations, charging infrastructure, fiscal and energy policy, and EV uptake, to develop its new structure.
Furthermore, the CEO of New AutoMotive, Ben Nelmes highlights the global momentum for fleet electrification, stating that companies in markets with comprehensive policies will experience productivity boosts. In markets still preparing for electrification, progress is likely as governments provide support for charging infrastructure and incentives for commercial fleets to go electric.

A Collective Effort Towards a Greener Future
Arcadis, a global consultancy specialising in sustainable design, engineering, and management, has joined EV100, a company committed to improving quality of life and achieving net-zero emissions by 2035, as part of its mission to electrify its global fleet by 2030 and combat climate change.
Additional modifications to EV100 as part of the relaunch today include:
- Plug-in hybrids, which were once thought of as a transitional bridge technology, are no longer eligible for any pledges that are not zero-emission.
- Businesses who are eager to investigate fleet electrification but are not yet ready to commit to EV100 can join the new EV100 Pledge Network (EVPN).
- Previously represented by the EV100+ sister initiative, EV100 now also covers the medium and heavy-duty vehicle (MHDV) segment.
EV100, a global network of companies transitioning to electric vehicles, uses its members' expertise to drive policy change and lead the global conversation through year-round events.
To sum up, the relaunch is a two-week social media and content campaign featuring member voices, case studies, and thought leadership from top companies like Ikea, AstraZeneca, Geopost, Maersk, Arcadis, Siemens, Astara, and Delta Electronics.
