By completing the Piping Design and Selection training course, you will be able to:
- Implement design philosophy and lifecycle approach when developing, evaluating, and refining piping systems used in Oil and Gas processing facilities
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of piping design and selection by utilising essential international codes, standards, and industry specifications
- Evaluate critical process design inputs to make informed engineering choices and develop compliant piping layouts
- Perform pipe sizing and hydraulic calculations, selecting suitable materials, valves, fittings, and special components
- Develop, review, and refine line classes and piping specifications to ensure material compatibility and suitability
- Conduct piping stress and flexibility analyses, pinpointing load effects and implementing measures to prevent overstress, vibration issues, and equipment overloads
- Interpret stress analysis reports, incorporating results into routing revisions, support layout optimisation, and overall system design enhancements
- Design and select all major categories of pipe supports, including rigid supports, spring supports, and restraint devices, considering load demands, movement needs, and structural limitations
- Apply advanced modelling tools and 3D design software to create and validate piping layouts, detect clashes, and enhance coordination among engineering teams
- Follow best practices in testing, inspection, fabrication, and installation to maintain piping integrity during construction, commissioning, and operational phases
